Kumbalgarh Fort

This 15C fort has an impressive outer wall which at 36km is the longest in the world save for the Great Wall of China. Unlike the Great Wall it was used in anger but was never breached until Akbar's forces poisoned the water supply. It is more like the British Camp than Conwy Castle in that the the outer ramparts enclose farming land. Inside there are 360 temples, 300Jain and 60 Hindu. We didn't visit more than about two nor the inner citadel which was very steep but the walls were beautiful having a semicicular tower every few hundred metres and the repetitive rhythm of them was quite beautiful although of course sod's law applied and you would only really get a good picture from where it was impossible to stop the car.
