Milford Sound is of course not a sound (a sea -inundated river valley) but a fjord (a sea-inundated glacial valley). It is the most accessible fjord as the Homer tunnel road ends here.It is staggeringly beautiful and home to a seal colony. When we were there the only waterfalls were the two glacier-fed waterfalls because of the drought but after rain the whole valley is a ribbon of falls.
