Shanghai'd

All modern skyscraper cities are much the same, so much of Shanghai was very like Hong Kong or Sydney or Singapore, although the quality of the architecture was higher in Shanghai  than Hong Kong. The same brand shops are in each favouring brand impact over locality. So, when I found 8C rather cold (Britain was about 0C at that time) I took myself off to Marks and Spencer to buy a nice thick sweater, and when a fault developed after 4 days I could take it back and get a substitute and knew exactly whereabouts customer services would be because that's where it always is. I was sliightly sad that i had time to take it back  because I would have enjoyed taking it back to Chester.
Shanghai has retained some low rise areas and the contrast from the hotel 11th floor window was noticeable.
