17 mile Drive

The western extreme of the Monterey peninsula is effectively a gated community of private roads and expensive houses.

They have set up a route round it and you pay your $10.75 and can drive round. There are a number of beaches, at least four golf courses, luxury hotels and what are I think in the main holiday homes. There are deer and squirrels and lots of flowers and wild life. The only negative being the buses of tourists.
