This was obviously the route of choice rather than taking the Highway 101 up the centre of California. The views were .pretty good.

elephant seals. We learned that there had been major land slips across the highway, as the land to the east is all State Park there were no detours and we had to turn round and go up Highway 101 after all. The next day we went down to the obstruction the other way.
